Sorry if there are any obvious mistakes in this update. I've had a busy (but great!) week and I'm trying to not fall asleep at my desk. I want to find some time and energy later to keep playing this family, but we'll see how that goes. :P

TSC RRL: Greengrass 3.3

I feel like I'm spamming you all a bit with all these Greengrass updates, but I've got to keep posting them if I'm going to get them all up in time. I've never played or posted anything so quickly in my life! It actually makes me think about how long I take to play usually. You know when 1 sim week takes months to play. I think after I've finished this challenge I need to find a kind of medium between playing this fast and playing as slow as I usually play. I really love this family though. :)

I just had a bit of a panic there when I saw the redesigned update page, but fortunately we can still change it back to the older version...I hope it stays that way. Stop changing things LJ! It never works out. /Sigh. Anyway...on to the next Greengrass update!

I think I'm making good time with this so far, which is good news, considering how busy I've been recently! I've already got a few updates lined up, so hopefully it won't take me too long to get those posted. I have to say at this stage, I really love my challenge! I know lots of people don't like the Pets EP, and yeah I was pretty disappointed with it when it first came out, but now I just love taking pets pictures so much, that I can't help but love it. You'll be seeing a lot of pets picspam soon!

TSC RRL: Greengrass 3.0

Woooo, I'm so happy to start posting these updates! I hope I can do as well as both alienpod's and W's generations, but it's so nice to be doing a challenge with such great simmers. This has been a nice change of pace from the other games I'm playing - my uberhood and a ts3 legacy (which I haven't posted about here at all and I think maybe I should have, hmmm). I'm playing in Aldberry, which is a new neighbourhood I started for this challenge, but I actually quite like it so I might stick with it afterwards as well. It has a kind of beachy feel, inspired by ts3 pictures from Sunlit Tides, as well ts2 pictures by

huning and

beatdoc16. Hopefully, Hunter appreciates his new home!

Uberhood Week One; Green

I took so many pictures this time round, so I've used this 'summary' to post lots more pictures, including ones that I couldn't post on tumblr and a few favourites. Not a very good summary post I guess. ;) (Note to self: I can't take this many pictures in my TSC:RRL gen!!) I also want to move onto the next family even less than last time.. I'm getting too attached to these premades! But I also want to play the other premades too and you never know, I might like them as much the first two families. (And of course I need to keep ageing in sync which is very important). I still can't believe I've never really played the premades properly before. It's so much fun! I'm honestly enjoying ts2 more than I've ever done at the moment. I wonder if the ts3 premades are this fun to play? I'm feeling like I should try a ts3 world makeover; it might help me get back into ts3 more like it has with ts2. Enough rambling though... here's what happened in the Green household this week.

I hate technology

I mentioned this briefly on tumblr yesterday, but I'm having computer problems and things are now looking a bit more serious. On Saturday, my computer started not booting up probably. At first, my computer started "clicking" and the computer would just hum and fail to get even to the first splash screen. At this stage, it would sometimes randomly boot up (but skip lots of the first screens like GRUB a bootuploader) and I could get into ubuntu but not windows. I then tested all my computer parts (harddrive, graphics card etc) so the good news is that they seem to be working fine. Now however the problem is worse and it never boots up and after the clicking there are added long beeps.

Fortunately these beeps led me to find out what the problem is. I'm now 98% certain it is corrupted BIOS. I tried to reset the BIOS, but this didn't have any effect, so after googling some more I found this a really common problem with Acers. I now have two options:
a) although I tried resetting the BIOS, apparently this isn't enough and there are more (really complicated) steps to get the BIOS back to the default settings. I don't know if I could really manage this by myself.
b) buy a new motherboard. It might just be easier to just replace motherboard, but only if I can find the same model, because apparently if I get a newer generation motherboard it won't be compatible with my other parts (processor, graphics card etc) and I don't think I can afford to replace everything. =\

So basically this all means that I can't access anything on my computer and of course no sims. I'm hoping it won't take me too long to fix this, now I know what the problem is, but I just want to give everyone the heads up as if things don't go according to plan, it could take me a while.. I hope I can work things out though. (Also I really hate the mobile tumblr app ugh).

Uberhood Week One; Cordial

I've decided to post short lj summary posts of my uberhood (and possibly other challenges in the future) which I've been posting pictures of at tumblr. I wasn't going to do this at first, because tumblr seems to really suit my playing style. As I play quite (read: very) slowly, I like that I can just post one picture or one photoset at a time. It means I can be more active than if I was just posting a post at lj. And then when I end up taking/editing lots of pictures at once, I can just drop them in the queue so I don't spam everyone all at once. It also makes me look more active than I actually am ;). With chrono tags and pages, you can keep everything reasonable organised anyway, but I don't want to abandon lj all together and as I know there are people who prefer it here, so I've decided to make these short summary posts of what's happened. They'll be brief and won't include all the pictures I've posted on tumblr along the way, but I think they're a nice way to round off an update/week with a few of my favourite pictures and it might be easier for some people to catch up if they don't like browsing through tumblr chrono tags.

I hope this doesn't bother those of you who are following both here and on tumblr, and might be seeing this stuff twice! I guess you can just ignore these posts though. ~~But you do get a few bonus pictures that I haven't posted before!~~ Anyway, on with the summary!

2 years later...

Cross-posted from my new simblr, but hey guys! This is me trying to get back into the simming community. It'd be great to hear from you all and I hope you're all well! ♥

This is strange and I don’t know how many of you will remember me, but it’s Imi/Imo here! I can’t believe it’s been 2 years since I last played the sims. A lot has happened to me irl during that time and I also uninstalled both ts2 and ts3 along time ago. In fact I even changed OS from windows xp to ubuntu, so even during those times when I wished I could play again, I didn’t really have that option.

I actually thought that there weren’t many people active in the sims community anymore, because the couple of times I’ve checked my lj friends page it’s seemed really quiet (although I really haven’t logged into lj at all in those two years).

I’ve found out the reason why though…everyones moved to tumblr! Just last week I found out that there is a huge simblr community here and since then I’ve been looking through everyone’s blogs and pictures. It’s made me feel so nostalgic and I’m so happy that everyone is still posting their games! Another thing, I’m so happy to see people are playing TS3 as well as TS2! I remember last time I posted, many people were disappointed in the game, but since then it looks custom content has improved and more people are playing, which is great cause I love that game!

Basically, I’m jealous over all your pictures after discovering simblrs, so now I want to start playing again and I made this new simblr (omg I love that cute name for a simming blog)! This is my simming to-do list for the coming weeks:

install windows xp/7 on a partition: this is the compromise if I’m going to install the sims again, because I’ve actually not missed windows at all since I moved to ubuntu. Oh well, I don’t have to use it other than for sims. I need to find a disc though (I think I know where one is)!
install sims 2, eps, cc programs and fill downloads folder: should be easy enough, as my last TS2 backup is still on my external HD, so I should just be able to paste it in and play (famous last words).
install sims 3?: this will be more difficult as I’m going to have read up on all that has changed/been updated since I’ve been away
consider BUYING TS3 EPS!!: all the pictures posted here are making me so jealous! I only have WA and AMB right now, but the new EPs look amazing and I really want LN, GEN and Pets :>
look at the box full of sim games and think about how much all of that has cost. Should you really be buying 3 new EPs and can you afford it? (answer: probably not).
think about how your poor computer is 6 years old and even though it worked fine with TS3 last time you played, it might not be able to cope with 3 new EPs.
order EPs anyway…? Well, I’ll probably play them in the future, even if my current computer can’t cope with it…look at me justifying my expensive simming obsession. Nothing has changed.

If someone could kindly either convince me to buy these EPs or convince me NOT too that would be great, because I can’t make decisions. :3 First things first though, installing windows and checking the game(s) still works.

tldr; You’re beautiful simming community and I’ll never leave you again. ~~Also I have over 500 notifications on lj. It really has been that long! :o~~

New Sims - Aliza, Kurt, Darryl & Sofia

I guess your all fed up of me apologising for being so quiet everytime I post...well, last week was tough for me. A week of exams. -_- I really struggled to get through the whole week and just felt completely exhausted after each exam, so I am sure you'll understand that I couldn't really post or comment on your entries.

Anyway, that's behind me now! I haven't really got that many new pictures of my game to post, as I still haven't had much of chance to play, after everything that has been going on, but here are some new sims that I thought I would share. Sorry these pictures are really quick and there are a couple more sims I could upload, but I am just too tired to go in-game right now to get more pictures, so maybe another time. And well actually I managed to take way more pictures than I thought I would have done. Well, messing around with the pose boxes is fun, right? Now I want to go through all the entries I have missed this week, so sorry for the late comments, but I am going on a commenting round today, I promise!

Unnamed 'Hood in Progress

I really have missed playing the sims so much. I am having such a blast now that I have had a chance to play it again! So although updates will probably continue to be slow over the next few months (you know how things are. I have to be careful and I do have a lot of other things I want to try and do over the next few months), I really hope I can continue being at bit more active here and just enjoy playing the game again.

So I started a new 'hood. I thought I might as well, as it has been so long since I have played. I am not really sure what I am going to do with this 'hood though, but right now I am just enjoying decorating and attempting ~~and failing~~ to build some decent lots. I also need to give it a name. I'm hoping one will come to me while I am decorating. I am trying to have different areas in the 'hood (farm, forest, mountains, beach, town...), which is something I have not attempted before. I have always had one theme and decorated the whole 'hood like that, but I couldn't decide what kind of 'hood to have this time, so I thought I would try a bit of everything! I have only started on the farm and beach areas, but I have some ideas for the other areas too.

Anyway, here are some pictures and hopefully they'll be more soon and maybe even some pictures of some houses...if I ever get them looking right!

I gave up on trying to the keep the size of my downloads folder down

I don't think I am alone in saying that one of my favourite things about The Sims is how it lets you customise everything and of course downloading custom content made by other players. I think it is what puts it apart from other games and I honestly don't think it would be the same without it. I haven't turned on the game and had another chance to play again, but these past few days I have enjoyed myself immensely by browsing the community, looking at pictures, reading legacies and most of all downloading a lot (A LOT) of content. It seemed like I missed a lot while I was away! But I have really had a lot of fun finding downloads and now my downloads folder is suffering once more. I thought I would show you guys some of things that I found that I really love ~~to make me feel less bad about not posting for so and because it still might be quite a while before I post anything of my own~~. You all will have probably seen most of this already, but I think it is still fun to share finds! :D

Charterzard's journal is packed with really lovely outfits. Cute little dresses for girls, retextures of sentate's oversized tops (I am starting to get way too many edits of these, but I love these meshes so much that I don't care) and her latest download is a really clever idea that I think I am going to over-use a lot in my game. These are dresses, but on a skirt mesh, which means you layer them with different tops. Cool, huh? And check out the preview of the next in the series. It looks gorgeous!

Sims 3 pic spam again!

It is just such a nice game to waste time with and enjoy. I honestly do think I prefer sims 2, but sims 3 is a really nice casual, realaxing game, just to play when you don't feel like doing much, which for me is quite a lot recently. And I have also got quite attached to Maggie and Chris. :D

I am playing sim 2 as well though! Well, I am well into preparing for my build a city/prosperity/mixture of other things challenge. I have couple more sims to make for it, and I am now setting up and decorating the neighbourhood. I did originally say that I was just going to decorate once there are some more buildings and sims in it, but being the perfectionist that I am I have to get it looking nice before I start! XD

So we'll start with more sims 3 neighbourhood shots...

Maggie's expecting and the ghosts have a night trip

More sims 3 pic spam! Not as large this time. The hospital seems to have become my second home. I've not been very well recently, well not for about 6 months, and I am just constantly having appointments with different doctors and specialists. They think I have chronic fatigue syndrome (or M.E), but we need another specialist's opinion first to be certain.

Going to start making sims and sorting out a neighbourhood for a challenge I'll be doing in sims 2 soon, as well. I am really looking forward to that, hopefully I'll find it enjoyable.

Challenge Ideas?

So I am really enjoying playing sims 3 at the moment. It is great fun. I think it is kinda a more of a...casual game than the sims 2, I don't focus on the little details like making up story lines and personalties for each of the sims, and I just let them make things up on their own. It's really amusing, and a nice change from my playing style in sims 2.

I am also trying to build a half-decent in house in sims 3 and sims 2, which I suck at so much. I never been much of a builder or decorator, I usually just download houses, because it takes me way too long. But I am trying to change that and practise building. I am finding it fun, but frustrating at the time it takes. Seriously I really admire all the amazing builders out there. Hopefully I can improve though.

But I want to play some more sims 2. I love it so much, and want to do loads more things with it! I was thinking of starting a fresh neighbourhood....and maybe doing some kind of challenge? I have never really done a challenge, I just usually just play. No goals or anything, I just enjoy making up random storylines for each sim and family. But I have seen quite a few challenges over livejournal, and they look like fun so I want to give one a try.

It looks like the most common one is legacies? I have read some really funny legacies, but I think I want to play something a bit more open-ended with more familes and sims involved. So one thing that did catch my eye was the Build a City Challenge, it looks a lot of fun and I love what Penny has done with the challenge.

But other than that I don't really know what kind of challenges there are out there, being new to the livejournal community. So I was wondering what people recommend? Just any ideas would be welcome!

I love this game!

I really do! I thought I would be really annoyed with myself for spending £30 on a game I was sure I going to hate, but I am actually really enjoying it! To be honest it doesn't really feel like sequel to TS2. I mean I don't think it really improves and adds to the game, like the change between TS2 and TS1, it feels more like a completly different take on the theme and idea of the sims. Don't get me wrong there are many, many annoying problems with it, but most of those I think can be fixed and I am still loving it! I think I am going to do a list of positives and negatives on it at some point but I want to get at least 2nd Gen before I do that. For now just enjoy my random and wierd screenshots (56 pictures behind the cut!)!

Some of you might be fed up of neighbourhood shots but....

I can't help it! Okay official opinion no#1; the scenery is perfect! More the perfect! I mean I knew it would be good from the pictures, but it is just great seeing it in game. And I haven't even opened Riverview yet! So here are a few (...okay quite a few...48 to be precise!) pictures of the neighbourhood. I promise I'll post some pictures of sims next, and maybe a mini review? I am going to try and stop myself from posting so many neighbourhood shots. I probably won't be able to contain myself when I open up Riverview for the first time, but these will be the last ones from Sunset Valley for a while.
